To produce competent professional allied health graduates, equipped with sound knowledge based on scientific principles, imbued with ethics and moral values primed to serve the community through diagnostic & curative services, rehabilitation and expertise by assisting physicians and surgeons and hence contributing to help improve quality of life of the community.


We are striving to be a center of excellence in the field of Allied Health Professional Training with the following objectives:

  1. To overcome the dearth of allied health professionals in Pakistan and produce efficient partakers in the health sciences arena.
  2. To provide skilled and trained manpower in diagnostic, therapeutic, rehabilitation and preventive fields.
  3. To inculcate professionalism and ethical values in allied health professionals, thus, enabling them to heal the ailing community with compassion.

The Strengths of the Institute of Allied Health Sciences

Institute of Allied Health Sciences (IAHS) is run by Wah Medical College (WMC) which is an affiliate of National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS), Rawalpindi.

  • WMC is a project of Pakistan Ordinance Factories (POF) welfare trust and is attached with POF, Ministry of Defense Productions, Government of Pakistan.
  • IAHS is registered with Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), Islamabad.
  • Equipped with qualified faculty and conducive as well as secure academic environment.
  • IAHS imparts 2 years’ HSSC level-MIT , MLT & Associate Degree in Blood Transfusion Medicine (AD-BTM). The theory and demonstration classes are held in the institute itself, whereas, the practical training is imparted at fully equipped, 759 bedded, POF hospital which is a tertiary care teaching hospital recognized by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) and College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP).
  • The hands on training is also imparted at Izzat Ali Shah Hospital, Wah Cantt.

Wah Medical College added another feather to its cap by constituting ‘The Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Wah Medical College’ in Wah Cantt. An independent institute of Allied Health Sciences has been established with the sole aim of developing professionals who would be an integral part of the medical team along with doctors and nurses. The Allied Health professionals contribute their expertise to the preventive, curative and rehabilitative care of the patients. IAHS currently offers 2 years’ F.Sc. in Medical Imaging Technology (MIT) , Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) & Associate Degree in Blood Transfusion Medicine 9AD-BTM).

However, in order to prepare professionals who can deliver high quality patient care services the institution plans to start B.Sc. (Hon) MIT and B. Sc. (Hon) MLT with the approval of NUMS in near future.
